Should I tweet, tumble, be del.icio.us or digg?

I’m excited about Social Media and the various networks out there because I’m in the business of reaching people fast with accurate information. I will admit that the way that we’re being bombarded with information is a little frightening and is taking some adjustment on my part, but I’m up for the challenge.

I was a little stuck on what I should write about, but I’ve decided to approach this semi-dilemma in the same way that I approach life. One day at a time! I interact with and have conversations with people several times a day, every day. I just need to apply my day to day communication skills to online interactions.

I want to focus on the different social networks and platforms available online because that’s the part I find confusing. Which ones do I use? How are they different? Do I need to be present on all of them? These questions arise every time I get an invitation to one of these sites. I’ve already learned in this course that social networking is a two-way street. It’s a lot more fun when it involves not just yourself. So that’s definitely something that I need to take into consideration when deciding how many networks to join. So how many relationships or circle of online “friends” can I realistically maintain. I came across an article called “1or 100: How Many Social Networks Should You Join?” on the Shipul Blog that I sometimes browse. This blog offered some insight however, I would love to hear from some of the people out there that have actually ventured on some of the social network sites listed on Traffiikd, which is another blog that I enjoy perusing. The article is called “List of Social Media and Social Networking Sites.” It’s not so much an article as it is a categorized listing of the various social network sites out there.

Now I know what I’m really up against! What social networks do you belong to? Would you recommend them and why?

The Power of Social Media vs United Airlines

Social Media has definitely gone viral and companies have realized the impact that the wrong message can have on their companies. No other company knows that better than United Airlines. I wanted to learn more about Social Media Marketing so I took a course in addition to the various online resources that I use every day.  I’m on lesson one of this course and the video and link below blew me away. I wanted to share. Take a look and let me know your thoughts regarding this gentleman’s experience and the power of social media. Read the article first. It’s relatively short and then check out the YouTube Link.

Cheers,
